Nintendo plans to delete sleep tracker

Nintendo continues its plans for issuing a sleep tracker in the refrigerator. The so-called Quality of Life platform, which Nintendo wanted to take its first step outside of gaming, is therefore postponed indefinitely.

The game console maker announced the end of 2014 plans for a device that was tracking sleep patterns by using radio waves. The device had to stand at the bedside and track how a user is asleep. The sleeper did thereby itself nothing to wear.

The plan was to make the device from March 2016 in sales. Nintendo president Tatsumi Kimishima reported Thursday during a question-and-answer session with investors that the quality-of-life -product will not proceed, although none of the investors about asking a question. Nintendo thinks that sleeping device the theme and fatigue at this point is not “commercially viable”.

That does not mean Nintendo has no plans in the field of health more. The company continues to investigate health applications to see if expansion of its activities in this direction is possible.
