NIST: vulnerabilities have from controversial “NSA algorithm
The U.S. government agency that is responsible for the standardization of encryption algorithms, asks the security community to renegotiate a controversial algorithm to examine it. Possibly there is a backdoor for the NSA.
The U.S. National Institute of Standards and Technology leave feedback back to the controversial encryption algorithm, Dual_EC_DRBG, which is used for random number generators. Reliable random number generators are important for the operation of encryption algorithms, but this appears to rng the garden to lead if a user has a specific set of numbers. Possibly it is a backdoor for the NSA, appeared last week from documents of the whistleblower Edward Snowden. The NSA was the principal author of the algorithm.
It is not common for an encryption standard is revised, but the NIST said to have come to again allow feedback after the recent revelations of Snowden to the decision. Should there be vulnerabilities found, then the algorithm can be adjusted, the organization. That the organization now coming decision is striking because it is rumored for years that the NSA would have deployed a backdoor in the algorithm, there are vulnerabilities in the algorithm, is equally known for long.
