Nokia acquires French maker wearables and health Withings about

Finnish Nokia has acquired the French maker of wearables Withings. Withings makes include analog watches with fitness tracking capabilities. Nokia will pay 170 million euros for the company.

With the acquisition Nokia will take a step into the market of “digital health”, says the Finnish company. At present, the Finnish company mainly offers network services and products, but it does include a tablet, Android launcher and 360-degree camera.

Withings makes digital health products with Internet connections, including scales, sleep tracking systems and watches. The French company has approximately two hundred employees who come to work after taking over at the ‘Technologies’ division of Nokia. The acquisition should be completed by the end of the summer.
