Find a Question:
Nokia Plan B: end Android and Microsoft’s partnership end of 2014
A relatively well-known story picks up again in circles. As reported by the New York Times just that Nokia probably fathomed the possibility of the Android platform to change. Now surely be fans of Nokia’s hardware beat her hands to her head and get angry – and yes, it’s understandable. I also would have liked to have seen an Android device from Nokia, and probably many other Android users as well.
A team within Nokia had already taken long before the negotiations with Microsoft Android on the Lumia devices, a project of the Microsoft guide also allegedly knew. Actually, not surprisingly, companies should at best have a plan B in your pocket and Nokia Plan B was actually only have been called Android.
A functioning smartphone with Android would have the partnership with Microsoft more than harm, which one can be sure – after all, are now sold with the open system about 3 of 4 smartphones. The partnership, which began in 2011, Nokia committed to Windows Phone, according to information from the New York Times Nokia had the option to opt out of this end of 2014.
According to the NYT, a separation would have been painful for both partners. Nokia smartphones will be responsible for 80 percent of the Windows Phone sales, Nokia is the exchange have been too expensive. A further discussion at this point is actually no longer needed. We do not know what would have happened, Nokia Android smartphones have made. Would have had – bicycle chain.
Microsoft will really take a lot of money in hand and continue to screw it to Windows Phone. This is an operating system with a huge potential behind it with Microsoft and a company that has a damn long breath – and with Nokia you have someone who can create incredible hardware. But it’s also kind of nice for us customers when it competitive in the market and most importantly – are selection. I am pleased that we currently have three “big” mobile systems, which are developed independently.
