Nokia vs. HTC: LG Mannheim rejects two patent lawsuits

Nokia was the view, but could not prove, the Court considers that the HTC two European patents 0812120 and 1312974 were injured. The patent describes one method of using alternate services and functions on a network-connected device, which by the Android would have been market or Google Play Store violated the HTC devices. The second patent concerns the regulation of the backlight to ambient light sensors.

Apart from HTC Nokia had filed in May 2012 against RIM and ViewSonic in Germany and in the U.S., came to complaints to the U.S. trade authorities USITC. RIM, which is now called BlackBerry has settled the dispute between time through a licensing agreement with Nokia.

By HTC looks forward – perhaps a little too early – that the Android platform thanks to this decision now “safe” prior claims on the basis of these patents was and that the court believes would connect from HTC that the requirements of Nokia was unjustified:

“We are gratified that the court apparently shares HTC’s view and that, given the positive ruling of non-infringement today, the Android platform is now safe from oppressive enforcement of this patent”
