The Dutch Railways test an app, beacons, which travelers get a warning if they forget to check out. This is done via Bluetooth beacons at stations. The test will take place at Schiphol Airport, Utrecht Central.

Beacons NS test The system is far from flawless, writes the Dutch site Numrush. In 60 to 80 percent of the cases, the beacon can be observed, while in some cases, travelers also falsely alerted, because they would have checked out.

If the test under 75 people is a success, then the train will probably be integrating the function in the planner app that is currently in download stores.
