Nuclear power plants in South Korea attacked by hackers




It is known that the attackers managed to penetrate the computer systems of Korea Hydro and Nuclear Power Co Ltd. Not the best news, because KHNP is responsible for the South Korean nuclear facilities.

A total of 23 reactors country. Hackers have stolen a lot of data relating to them. Now criminals require the authorities to stop the operation of two nuclear power plants. Namely – “Volson” and “Corey”.

These requirements must be met for Christmas. Otherwise cracks divulge all information. Not even intended for the general public that can harm the atomic complexes.

How real is the danger – it’s hard to say. KHNP representatives confirmed the attack. But assured that in the wrong hands got non-critical information. No risk for the stations it is not.

Thieves posted on Twitter a few drawings and plans (as proof of hacking). However, they can not be to paralyze the system.

Controllers reactors – as experts say – is safe. Especially from hackers. Control systems not connected to any external networks, they can not be affected from the outside.

Therefore, the leadership Korea Hydro and Nuclear Power Co Ltd is not going to respond to blackmail. And calls on the media not to exaggerate the significance of the attack.
