Nvidia: GeForce 10-line will not support three- and four-way SLI in games
Nvidia deletes the standard support for three- and four-way SLI with GTX 1070 and 1080 substantially. The company focuses entirely on the SLI with two cards. Only benchmarks in supporting Nvidia itself remains and the company promises to provide support to third parties.
The news, according to a statement which gave PC Perspective from Nvidia. “With the GeForce 10 series, we invest heavily in two-way SLI with our new High Bandwidth-bridge and Game ReadyDriver SLI profiles. To ensure the best possible gaming experience on our GeForce 10-series GPUs, we focus only on two-way sLI and remain two-way sLI profiles in our Game Ready drivers record, “reads the statement.
The drivers remain only contain SLI profiles for three and four hole cards in combination with special applications for benchmarking and overclocking, such as 3D Mark Fire Strike, Unigine and Catzilla. In addition, Nvidia promises to help businesses games and VR applications make who can handle more than two cards, to ensure that the software runs smoothly.
At the launch of the GeForce GTX 1080 there was only talk of Nvidia SLI with three or four cards ‘not recommended’. Who wanted this anyway, had to generate a signature for his video card and software installation called “Enhusiast Key” to unlock three-way and four-way SLI. As a plaster on the wound Nvidia has abandoned this plan. So whoever the benchmark tools will run with more than two GeForce 10 series cards do not need such Enhusiast Key.
PC Perspective got the statement after an unsuccessful attempt to get underway in 1080 four GeForce GTX cards. Only in LuxMark the site managed to set a score, and PC Perspective Nvidia asked how it was with the keys.
