Nvidia has announced that it will stop its GeForce Partner Program, also known as GPP. The decision follows a period with a lot of attention for the program, because Nvidia would compel participants to link their game brands exclusively to GeForce.

The company reports in a short message that it has taken the decision to ‘avoid distraction from its super-exciting work’ in the field of PC gaming. It also states that “rumors, speculation and falsehoods” about the GPP ignore the goal of the program. “We prefer to stop with the program than to fight disinformation”, says Nvidia. The company has never given openness to business since the first rumors about the requirements of the GPP.

In his message, it only states that it asked its partners to provide their products with a brand in a clear way. The partners would keep their brand and decide for themselves how to transfer their ‘product promise’ to gamers. The first rumors about the content of the GPP came from HardOCP, which claimed that manufacturers should link their game brands exclusively to GeForce if they want to use the benefits of the program, including marketing development funds .

After this information came out, several manufacturers made changes that were in line with the information from HardOCP. For example, Gigabyte released an RX 580 Gaming Box without its Aorus designation, MSI removed the Gaming X name from some AMD gps and released Asus AMD Radeon gps under the Arez name instead of the usual Republic of Gamers. Brand. In addition, there were rumors that HP and Dell refused to participate in the GPP. AMD pointed to these developments last month .

Nvidia says nothing about the direct consequences of ending the GPP, which it introduced in March. It remains to be seen whether manufacturers, for example, reverse some of the aforementioned changes.
