Nvidia Tesla K80 brings with 24GB of memory – update
Nvidia has announced a new Tesla graphics card for high performance computing from: the Tesla K80. The card has two Kepler GPUs and through the two 384bit interfaces can be addressed to gdd5 24GB total memory.
An official launch is not there yet, but that should soon follow clear from the notice on WccfTech. The Tesla K80 contains a duo KGK210 GPU’s for a total of 4992 cuda cores, 416 tmu’s rop and 96’s. The 384bit wide memory interfaces speak twice to 12GB GDDR5.
The core clock is 870MHz and the memory is clocked at 5GHz. The bandwidth amounts to 480GB / s, according to Nvidia, the performance in double precision calculations at 2.9 teraflops while single precision performance would lie on 8 teraflops. This makes the card twice as fast as the Tesla K40, claims Nvidia. The Tesla cards are used for supercomputers and other high performance computing applications, where they perform for instance scientific calculations. The price would be $ 7,000 in the US, converted 5600 euro.
