OLED for any expensive smartphone – Virtual reality, money and more supply
The telecom sector is not always as fast as it looks and is full of eternal promises. NFC is one of them; the technology that makes possible include mobile payment, has existed for over twelve years and the first experiments with mobile payments in the Netherlands found almost ten years ago. It is still not commonplace, but it is increasing.
Another is RCS, the SMS successor providers. RCS is now considered response providers to services like WhatsApp, but it has been around since 2007, two years before WhatsApp was released and three years, four before WhatsApp became popular. The micro-SIM card is another one. The specifications laid down in 2003, but the first phone with this smaller SIM card, iPhone 4, appeared in mid-2010.
OLED screens you might also hosts in this category. The first phone with an OLED screen that we could find, appeared in 2004: the Samsung X120. Soon, LG came out with a phone with two OLED displays: the S5000 in 2005. The first smartphone with OLED screen came out in 2008: the Nokia N85.
Even then applied as OLED great promise for phones. The big breakthrough came might have with Samsung’s Galaxy S series in 2010. It is now 2016 and there still appear regularly high-end smartphones with LCDs such as the HTC 10, LG and Huawei G5 P9.
