On our own behalf: server move on October 24th

Blog-logo We will bring our WordPress installation to a new server on Monday, October 24th. It starts in the morning. The system has been changed, among other things, web and database servers are separated. Furthermore, there are some optimizations under the hood, which hopefully are not visible but noticeable. Today is the technology in the background, but optical improvements will follow as well, but I have fortunate people in the background, who know something better than me. What does it mean to you today?

At best, you will not notice the changeover. We then change a switch and close the comment function completely. Then a current backup is pulled and brought to the new server. Because we are protecting our instance against Cloudflare against failure, we have to deposit only our new server at Cloudflare. While the conversion happens almost by clicking, theoretically no downtime should be given, so it will surely take some time for the DNS to be up-to-date and turn you over to the fresh server.

What do you notice? There are new articles and the comments are open on the new server. It was tested in advance that everything works, but the devil is known to be a squirrel. If something goes wrong or does not work, so we switch to the old server, which will run a parallel time. If you find that the comment function is running again from midday, you are on the new server. If you find any mistakes, I would ask you to report them exclusively via the commentary function under this post – and do not spread in the other posts.
