OnePlus will release Android 9 upgrade for OnePlus 3, 3T, 5 and 5T

OnePlus needs ‘more time’ to upgrade the OnePlus 3, 3T, 5 and 5T to Android 9. That’s what the company’s director says. When the devices get the new Android version is not yet clear, but possibly that will be postponed to next year.

According to GizmoChina, OnePlus director Pete Lau says in a response to Weibo that the company needs more time to provide the older devices with software based on Android 9. He does not say how long the delay will take, but it was previously stated that the aircraft would receive the upgrade this year.

Lau also clarifies that the OnePlus 6T will be equipped with OxygenOS 9 as it comes out on November 6th. That is no surprise, because the manufacturer already released that version of its operating system based on Android 9 in September for the OnePlus 6 .

In July OnePlus announced that the OnePlus 3 and 3T get the upgrade to Android 9 anyway. Earlier, the manufacturer said that the phones from 2016 after the upgrade to Android 8 no new versions of the operating system would get.
