Open Whisper Systems stops encrypted SMS and MMS




Secure Text chat software to do it in the future without support for encrypted SMS and MMS messages. Whisper maker Open Systems sees too many problems and is focussing instead on sending encrypted messages via the data line.

On his blog late Open Whisper Systems know that there is an end to encrypted SMS and MMS to Text Secure. For this, raised a number of reasons. Text Secure is an Android application that allows users according to the makers can safely chat, through the built-in encryption. Earlier this week, got the iOS version, which bears the name Signal, an update: so iPhone users can now send encrypted messages. Signal is thereby fully compatible with Secure Text, so that messages can be sent to Android users.
