Find a Question:
Optical zoom in smartphones became one step closer
Modern smartphones are already “learned” to make high-quality pictures, but there is one aspect that distinguishes the camera from the smartphone, even a simple camera – it’s optical zoom . However, thanks to a startup DynaOptics, this limitation may soon be in the past.
Standard zoom in the camera is powered by a symmetric lens movement along one axis, and so when zooming in or out the image lens unit moves back and forth. Experts from DynaOptics decided to completely revise the principle of modern lenses.
They presented an asymmetrical lens, the lens of which are moving relative to each other. Because of this they managed to create a lens that can easily fit into an ordinary smartphone and thus allow inbound and outbound image.
