Orange might be interested in taking over KPN or Proximus




Orange might be interested in a takeover of KPN or Proximus. A top executive of the French provider that has hinted in an interview with the business newspaper Financial Times. The interest seems far from concrete.

Orange CEO Gervais Pellissier said that one of the providers now operate in only one or two countries in the coming years’ takeover candidate. “Of those providers will be that for us”, says he told the Financial Times. In the list providers that serve only one or two countries are in each case, KPN and Proximus, but the CEO has not named.

The buzzing around that providers have long European ” super carriers “want to become a network in all countries of the European Union. Hence they should be better able to compete with major providers on other continents.

It seemed in 2013 that the Mexican America Movil, KPN would take over, but after pressure from the Netherlands saw the provider from that acquisition. Once there was also talk of a merger between KPN and the former Belgacom, Proximus now, but ricocheted off in 2007.
