Panasonic first Firefox OS TVs available




The first Panasonic Viera smart TVs with Firefox OS are available in Europe, including the Benelux. The rest of the world will follow in the coming months. Panasonic delivers first six models with the open source operating system.

That writes Mozilla on his blog. Over a year ago announced Panasonic and Mozilla still that the first TVs would come with the OS last year, but the release was delayed for unknown reasons. The TVs in terms of, are called Life + Screen Smart TVs with model numbers CR850, CR730, CX800, CX750, CX700 and CX680.

The TVs are optimized for HTML5 and rely heavily on Web apps and use Mozilla’s WebAPI. Devices with a Firefox browser or Firefox OS should be possible to stream content to the television.

According to Panasonic made the collaboration with Mozilla ensure that the openness and flexibility of Firefox OS ‘TV builder a more “user-friendly and more customizable user interface” could design than any other smart TV os whatsoever.
