Panasonic Lumix G7 preview – 4k video for the masses

During a European event in Mallorca, where Tweakers was present, the Panasonic Lumix G7 announced. Like the recently tested GF7 has also implemented a change in the positioning at the G-series. The new G7 creeps closer to the flagship GH4, to, and must therefore not only appeal to the casual photographer, but also the more experienced photographers and videographers. Panasonic protects itself especially with the 4k video function, which is within reach through the G7 to a broader audience. That strategy has long been rolled out; also film the GH4, FZ1000 and the LX100 in 4k. The last two are in the same price segment, around 700 euros, but the G7 is equipped with a full-fledged Micro Four Thirds sensor. Add to that the interchangeable lenses and the many manual functions at the G7 and is actually a ‘poor man’s’ GH4 for half the money.

We were in Mallorca a day with the new G7 to work and therefore have had a reasonable impression of the operation, and performance. The camera comes only at the end of June on the market, so it was a so-called pre-production sample, the quality of which according to Panasonic is not yet optimal.
