Paradox Interactive introduces together with Microsoft Paradox Mods. Through the platform, modifiers can release their creations cross platform on the PC and Xbox One. For now it only works with Surviving Mars simulation game, other Paradox titles follow later.

According to Paradox, modmakers can immediately release their designs for both platforms without additional steps. This is possible in the game itself and via the browser. At the time of writing, there are a hundred mods that work for both the PC and Xbox. Paradox provides a greenhouse for trees and a car wash as examples for available Surviving Mars mods. In order to use the modifications, players must be logged into the game with their Paradox Account. Then they can search for modifications via the Mod Manager .

Paradox Mods only works with the launchers of GoG and Paradox itself, so players via Steam can not use the multiplatform modcatologus. Modifications shared through the Steamworks mod platform are also not automatically available for Paradox Mods.

Anders Törlind, manager at Paradox, told Gameindustry to have experimented with mods on the Xbox version of citybuilder Cities: Skylines. However, modifications had to be approved before they became available. This is not the case with Paradox Mods and is moderated afterwards.

With the Surviving Mars update, Xbox players can also play the game with mouse and keyboard. Cities: According to a Paradox Plaza forum topic, Skylines also received a mod update this week . Here, however, it concerns mods that have been filtered by Paradox. For the time being, users can not upload mods themselves to the console version; these possibilities follow later. At the forum topic, a community developer writes that they also want to bring mods to the PlayStation version, but that the situation is ‘complicated’.
