Particles ninja»: IBM plans to enter the market of nanomedicine Ilya Hel behelle le.helle elehele
Jim Hedrick of IBM Research is a very interesting job. He is working on polymers – such repetitive chains of macromolecules that make up most of the things in our world, be it a computer or mobile phone. His work led to the creation of matter, worthy of the pen of science fiction. This self-healing substance, which was born out of recycled bottles of water, which he called “particle-ninja” and which will find its place in nanomedicine. Both discoveries will inevitably move towards consumer products in the near future .
A source of inspiration for IBM in nanomedicine has two roots: our growing resistance to antibiotics and the rejection of medical implants by the human body. With this in mind, Hedrick and his team, using the capabilities of IBM’s semiconductor design, created synthetic polymers that mimic the immune system. Using a simple charge, the resulting polymers were able to track down and cling to the specific germs throughout the body. After hitching they blow up these microbes like ninja shuriken throwing exploding (hence the name).
Of course, there is some concern over the presence of foreign objects in your body. But Hedrick notes that worry about. Particles Ninja will not get in other parts of the body that are not intended. They also have low toxicity, and most importantly – do not give rise to a new wave of resistant pathogens (bacteria that are resistant to antibiotics).
So, when we see the fruits of research virtually IBM? Hedrick said that his company is already in talks with several partners who could implement these nanotechnology in our modern world – from medicine to deodorants that we use on a daily basis. Such a future is not far off – Hedrick said that very soon the products with these “particles Ninja” will be on sale, perhaps, for the past ten years.Viewing:-415
