Find a Question:
Payday 2-studio “support for game impossible without micro-transactions’
Following the negative reactions to the Black Market Update for co-op multiplayer game Payday 2 earlier this month, developer studio Overkill has placed a comment on Reddit. According Overkill revenues necessary for the continued support of the game.
Almir Listo, producer at Overkill, held a ama on the Payday- subreddit following the end of the ingame event Crime Fest. The first question he decided to go into was the one who Payday community in recent weeks most concerned why there are now micro-transactions in the game while the developer promised in the past that it never would be the case? And why create such a pay2win’ situation?
Listo begins by stating that they have not started to develop after the release of three Payday Payday 2 in 2013. “We want to do everything possible to ensure that Payday 2 is as cool as possible.” By this he is referring to the multiple free updates for the game. “Paid DLC we only do when it needs to.” To all ideas that Overkill has to work out for the game, the team has been expanded from 25 to 75 men.
“88 updates later, we must take steps to ensure the survival of the game. We put the game on sale if it can even have all Payday 2 content made permanent 33 to 43 percent cheaper to pay here all wages.” Listo but also tells that these strategies are “not yielded the results we counted on.” As an additional source of income, the studio has therefore introduced the micro transactions.
“We never thought that we would get such a negative reaction from the community,” he admits. Nevertheless, the micro transactions seem permanent. “We hope that we can convince the community that this is the best strategy to ensure the viability of Overkill as an independent developer and the continued growth of Payday 2.”
One of the arguments that the developer evidence as to why the stat boosts the skins are not harmful to the gameplay experience is that Payday 2 is a PvE-game; “You win or lose with your team. An advantage of one of your team members is an advantage for you.” The reactions to the statements of Almir Listo in the Redditpost his undiminished negative.
In an interim update has Overkill already ensured that players the drills, charging for use, also can get to the end of a successful mission. It is not known how likely it is that players receive a free drill in hands.Viewing:-138
