Find a Question:
Pebble Steel: beautiful on the right track
It is the biggest success of crowdfunding platform Kickstarter to date: the Pebble smart watch. Initially wanted to raise $ 100,000 to get production going creator Eric Migicovsky but the support for the project was bigger than expected. At the end of the day more than 85,000 people had declared for the pre-order price of $ 115 to want to buy. A Pebble The young start-up was thus credited a fat $ 10 million in his account. Even after Pebble continued to grow, earlier this year the company announced that a total of 300,000 copies shipped to users.
Those are impressive numbers for such a young company, especially since the Pebble does not look like a normal watch. The housing is quite large and is certainly available in different colors, but they all fall properly. This makes the watch especially attractive to early adopters and tweakers, and not so much for people who watch partly seen as jewelry.
That fact had not escaped Pebble and therefore was in January at the Consumer Electronics Show announced a new model: the Pebble Steel. What hardware is concerned, he is very similar to the first model and the software is now equal for both models. Additionally, users will receive both a metal and leather strap included. Does have a hefty price attached to that new look, namely the Steel cost $ 250, $ 100 more than the normal Pebble.
Besides the appearance also was the software on the shovel. In version 2.0, developers have more direct access to the hardware and more APIs. The apps and watch faces and dials that make them, are now collected in Pebbles own Appstore, so users no longer have to wander off in search of software the Internet.
The first Pebble our review editors never achieved, but the Pebble Steel fortunately we received a review sample. In this review we focus on the housing and hardware of this ‘fashionable’ smart watch and we also take the new ecosystem extensively examined.Viewing:-231
