Pebble Time Review – Neat update while maintaining simplicity

The Pebble Time is a decent successor to the original Pebble smart watch, with a more accessible design and color. The good points of its predecessor, the well-read display and long battery life are preserved, while the software more playful and more extensive. Compared to the Apple and Android Watch Wear watches the functionality of the Time, however limited, especially if you use it in combination with an iPhone. What he does, he does well, however, and for people who find it important that a smart watch is primarily a timepiece, the Pebble Time is a fine choice.

It must have three very busy, tumultuous and exciting years have been at Pebble. When in April 2012 put the Kickstarter page for the first Pebble Smart Watch Online, was a pioneer. Smart Watches, there were almost no and the young, small company had no idea exactly where it began and whether it would be a success. This was followed by a rapid. The Pebble was the most successful Kickstarter project ever since its introduction more than one million units over the counter is gone. Initially only online, but today the Pebble is located in different countries also in physical store shelves.

With such a big success is inevitable successor. Which is now in the form of the Pebble Time, a new version of the Pebble with a custom enclosure, updated software and a color screen. Later there will be, as with the first model, a metal variation: Pebble Time Steel. However, the competition in the last three years been busy. Samsung decided to start soon on smart watches. Since Android Wear last year on the market, are also companies like LG and Motorola boarded, and of course since this spring to buy the Apple Watch.

The Pebble Time has therefore considerably more competitive than his predecessor three years ago. And many of these competitors have more onboard functionality than the Pebble, look striking and have fast hardware and beautiful color displays. Can the Pebble Time assert themselves in this new landscape? That is the question occupying us the last week and a half and when we give in this review response.
