Philips presents smartphone giant battery for Chinese market




The Dutch manufacturer Philips for the Chinese market presented a smartphone with a 5300mAh battery. Smartphones on the Dutch market generally have batteries with half that capacity. The phone is 11.4 mm thick.

The large battery makes the W6618 so somewhat thicker than the year 2014 has been prevalent for smartphones, which are often less than 10mm thick. Philips claims that the smartphone in laboratory conditions on standby can stand or can call 33 hours before the battery is empty for two months. The 5300mAh battery is significantly larger than the 4050mAh battery of the device with the largest battery in the Dutch market, the Huawei Ascend Mate and Mate 2 .

Philips has a 5 “screen built into the unit, with a resolution of 960×540 pixels, reports CNMO. The phone runs on a quad-soc MediaTek, the Cortex A7 MTK6592 with four cores at 1.3 GHz, assisted by a working memory the size of 1GB. storage is a measly 4GB, but the user can expand with a micro sd card. At the back there is an 8-megapixel camera and front camera has a maximum resolution of two megapixels.’s W6618 runs Android 4.2, as many phones with MediaTek socs.

Philips calls in China 1699 yuan for the unit, converted just under 200 euros. The Dutch manufacturer sells its smartphones for years only in Asia and will never in his homeland
