Phison improves its performance SSD controller with firmware update




SSDs that use the S10 Phison controller may soon get a firmware update that improves performance considerably. Tom’s Hardware discovered that the new Zotac-SSD’s already come with the firmware.

In October introduced Zotac two Premium Edition -ssd that use the S10 Phison controller. Tom’s Hardware discovered that the controller with this SSD’s a new firmware is provided, which almost doubles the random-read accomplishments compared to the previous firmware. According to Tom’s Hardware, the update performance of SSDs that use ramp up the S10 controller to the same level as the Samsung 850 Pro.

The website inquired of Phison and came to know that the firmware is sent to other manufacturers for testing. If manufacturers have validated the update, they can make it available to consumers. In early 2015 Corsair was the first manufacturer Phison the S10 applied in the Neutron XT SSDs. In addition, the controller uses include Kingston HyperX Savage in the series and in the last week announced UV300-SSD’s. It is not yet known whether or when the various manufacturers will release firmware updates for their SSD’s.
