Space agency NASA have decided once again to please the new stunning photo of Saturn and its rings , which were filmed by orbiting satellite “Cassini”. A new photo definitely should appeal to all lovers of astronomy, as it offers an incredible range of items.
The picture was taken June 15, 2013, when the “Cassini” is at a distance of about 1.1 million kilometers from Saturn. In this case, the spacecraft used a special spectral filter sensitive to wavelengths of near-infrared range. The image scale is 60 kilometers per pixel.
Recall that the spacecraft “Cassini-Huygens” is the result of collaboration space agency NASA (USA), the European Space Agency and the Italian Space Agency. Satellite launch from Earth occurred Oct. 15, 1997. And in mid-2004, “Cassini” entered orbit around Saturn.
Some scholars suggest that the resources of the spacecraft last until 2017. After this date, “Cassini” will fail and fall on Saturn.
