Pixar brings free version of RenderMan
Pixar has its 3D rendering software RenderMan for non-commercial use released. The film has the software used for animated films and adding visual effects to a number of feature films.
In May last year announced Pixar already that the next release of RenderMan would be free to download. It has the animation company almost a year cost to actually release the software. RenderMan is only a 64bit version available for Linux, Windows and OS X. In addition to the release of the software render Pixar has also opened a community site. Then animators can exchange knowledge about the software.
Pixar emphasizes that it has no features left out in the free version of RenderMan. Time Limits, watermarks or other restrictions are not present. However, the company says it is not permitted to use the software commercially. With RenderMan include making visual effects for 3D animations and movies.
