I’m going to the Efteling, look at the decoration of the park,” says Johnny Watts Frontier us. Johnny puts his work sometimes cap manager, but prefers creative. Still, Johnny still shows more than one developer fan of roller coasters and amusement parks. “I want this game actually make for ten years. A combination of deficiencies in the technical side on the one hand and for other priority projects within Frontier secondly, that occurred until now. I am glad that now you are!”

Gameplay Images recorded during the recent play session Tweakers with the Alpha build of the game.

In the years that Johnny really wanted to work on a coaster game, Frontier was busy with many other projects. The studio had obviously Elite games, but also worked with Disney and Microsoft to various Kinect games like Kinectimals and Kinect Disney Adventures. The idea for a coaster game also existed within the team, but the time was not ripe for it. That changed thanks to the release and success of Cities: Skylines. That game made clear to the developers of Frontier Games that there is a market for the Tycoon / simulation games that decades ago were so popular. “People were playing Cities: Skylines and discovered that they had missed this type of game we hope Planet Coaster doing the same.” Said Johnny.

At Gamescom we already briefly introduced to Planet Coaster, or rather with some basic ingredients that together later this year will be the game. In Germany, for example, the emphasis very much the way the simulation of amusement going public works. On the basis of tech demos and heat maps we were given a look behind the scenes of the software out there at Planet Coaster should ensure that herds people divide themselves in a realistic way about the park. What routes they take, how they move from type A to B, and so on.

In addition, shielded the men of Frontier Games – a studio with the Elite team there has a total of 270 employees – on the Gamescom albeit with a greater focus on the individual. No longer the audience consists only of individuals, as usually in the past was the case. Planet Coaster players will also get all kinds of group composition of their choosing. Young and old couples, families and even school classes to visit your park. Not all of these compositions will in fact already sitting directly in the Tuesday appearing Alpha build of the game, but in the end the audience walking around in your theme should be a credible simulation of reality.

That Frontier Games with the Alpha build all kind in the direction comes from what the game should be the end, we have already experienced last week on location in London. For an hour we were able to work on the theme park simulator, and we also have a number of members of the development team were able to bombard with questions. Prominent remark “will come, but not yet” with some regularity. Frontier intends to dish the game during the development piecemeal to his backers, so all adequately test the various facets of the game. Backers? Yes. The game is already on sale, and interested players can give themselves access to the Alpha version by purchasing a special version of the game.
