Plans for NASA space missions for the next 20 years
National Office of Aeronautics and Space Administration has big plans for space exploration in the next two decades. According to the illustration, created by Bob Al-Greene from the portal Mashable, NASA is going to launch the 2030 set of various space missions, ranging from re-exploration of the Moon and ending manned mission to the Red Planet.
Flight plan will begin its implementation in September 2013 , when the satellite is NASA LADEE (Lunar Atmosphere and Dust Environment Explorer) will go to a 160-day voyage to study the lunar surface. At the end of 2013 will start the mission MAVEN (Mars Atmosphere and Volatile Evolution Mission). The task of the future mission will be to determine what actually was the climate of Mars. Researchers plan to find out by studying the upper atmosphere of the Red Planet, the ionosphere, as well as by analyzing the interaction of the planet of the Sun and the solar wind.
The next year starts Magnetospheric Multiscale Mission, the essence of which is to look for an answer to how the magnetic fields of the Sun and Earth interact with each other. For this task, NASA plans to use four identical spacecraft. In 2015, New Horizons spacecraft finally pass by Pluto and its moons, and covered the distance of more than 4 billion miles.
The next two missions are planned for 2016. The task of Juno mission will study the mysteries of the largest planet in our solar system – Jupiter. In turn InSight spacecraft sent to Mars to drill deep holes in it to learn more about its structure and history.
In 2017, the mission will begin TESS, in which several space telescopes will be looking for new potentially habitable exoplanet next to the most closest star to our Sun.
In 2018 NASA will launch the Solar Probe Plus, whose task will be to investigate the outer atmosphere of the Sun. At the same year, is scheduled to launch most advanced new generation telescope – James Webb Telescope , which will search for new galaxies and will be able to look far deeper into the universe than any of his predecessors. The last mission for 2018 is to launch a spacecraft OSIRIS-Rex, which is closer to the asteroid “1999 RQ36», its robotic arm will take samples of its soil and return them to Earth in 2023.
After a two-year break in 2020, the mission will begin to launch new Mars rover , whose task will be to find traces of the once existed on the Red Planet life and other samples.
2025 should be remembered as the year of humanity, when the mission starts on controlled flight to an asteroid, based on data from the spacecraft OSIRIS-Rex.
2030 may finally be the first time a year when a manned mission to Mars sent one way and the subsequent creation of the Red Planet on the first Martian colony.
