Playable version of canceled Warcraft adventure game leaked




A post in the Scrolls of Lore Forum on September 11 contained a link to a playable version of a never hatched point-and-click adventure of Warcraft in late 90s named Warcraft Adventures: Lord of the Clans.

User Reidor, presumably from Russia, writes : “After waiting 18 years, project canceled Warcraft Adventures Blizzard in 1998, finally released!”. According Reidor concerns the entire pre-release version of the game, including cutscenes and ‘interesting txt documentation.

Kotaku is able to report that there are already several years images from the game floating around on the Internet, but no one had access to date to a working build of the game, something that is no longer the case. The game was based on the style of play LucasArts adventure games like The Secret of Monkey Island.

The development of the game began immediately after Warcraft II: Beyond the Dark Portal. The game tells the story of Thrall, a slave and gladiator. Initially released in 1997, the game had, but it was postponed until the end of 1998. Just days before the E3 that year, Blizzard announced that the game would be canceled. On May 22 1998 Blizzard issued a press release in which it states that the quality of the game did not meet the requirements.
