Players encounter alternate reality game spread over several indie games




In several indie games are puzzle pieces and characters found quite a lot away from each other and connect. On Reddit users and gamers looking for more pieces of the puzzle to figure out what the solution is.

Eye ARG Several indie games are connected to the alternate reality game, or ARG. This fell players when a striking eyeball symbol was found in several games. At first it seemed to go only to Steam games, but later turned out games on Steam are not to be related. At the time of writing, there are found seven puzzle pieces, and there is an eighth game which contains the eye symbol, but in which no piece of the puzzle has been found yet.

The games in which puzzle pieces are found, his Crypt of the Necro Dancer, Mini Metro, Legend of Dungeon, The Magic Circle, Neon Struct, Moss Speedrun 2 and Flickers. The puzzle pieces appear to be consistent with each other, resulting in a round-maze in which the arrow is thought to be the starting point to the outer line. The endpoint is probably the square, but the information is not clear. This is because there still seem to miss several puzzle pieces. What to do with the result after completing the maze puzzle is unknown.

Discord on Reddit and a chat server gamers work together to discover new pieces of the puzzle and connecting the pieces to the already existing part of the maze. This requires a comprehensive spreadsheet created in which all tested games are shown and what is or is not found. Also, one of the researchers all the puzzle pieces in a message on put.

One theory that has been put forward suggests that the arg has to do with the new game from Jonathan Blow, The Witness. That game is filled with puzzles and suiting the extensive arg-puzzle in which players work. The Witness, however, is already out and so far has found no agreement yet in it. Another theory suggests that it is not possible is a flat maze, but to a 3D puzzle, such as a sphere. As yet there is still no proof.

The use of alternate reality has gained popularity in 2015. There was the arg in The Binding of Isaac: After Birth, which had to be deciphered tweets and searches in the real world were needed to find clues. Valve also conducted a small alternate reality game by during the Winter Sale.
