Plex Media Server runs for the first media player

Plex Media Server software to use the device as a media server, support for the first time a media player. It involves the Shield Nvidia’s Android TV, which has hardware on board the first media player of Plex powerful enough.

The Shield Android TV Media Player has a Tegra X1 soc Nvidia itself and thanks to the Maxwell GPU in it, the media player can transcode in realtime video, something that according to need Plex for a media server. The regular version is the 16GB of storage that cramped to store a lot of video, but Nvidia also has a Pro version with 500GB marketed. Plex says it continues to look for more players that may be suitable to serve as Plex Media Server, but for now the Shield is the only one that meets the hardware requirements.
