Preliminary version of psychedelic survival game We Happy Few is available




A preliminary version of the game We Happy Few is released on platforms like Steam Early Access and Xbox One Preview. The authors also show a new gameplay trailer of the game set in an Orwellian alternative history.

We Happy Few is a psychedelic surivalgame, which is made by the developers who released contrast for the PlayStation 4 and PC. 2015 brought development studio Compulsion Games 334,000 Canadian dollars via Kickstarter to make the game.

The game is set in the city of Wellington Wells, where the inhabitants are obliged to ingest the drug called Joy. The player takes on the role of a person who chooses not to do so and thereby see that the law-abiding townsfolk turn against the character. Players must not only hunger, thirst and keep health in mind, but also need to wear the right clothes to stay alive.

The environments are procedurally generated and when the player dies, the game begins again. The preliminary version of the game which is now available, yet does not contain story elements like cutscenes. Further, the game according to the makers almost complete, “but at alpha levels.

Through Steam Early Access, GOG Games in Development and the Humble Store, We Happy Few retails for 27.99 euros. Xbox One owners can purchase the game for 29.99 euros via the Preview program. Buying early version gives in all cases be entitled to the full version of the game when it comes out. The authors expect that the game is finished about six to twelve months.
