Find a Question:
Price mobile data coming – Mobile Internet can be cheaper
It was a stormy Friday afternoon in December 2014, when the director of Tele2 Netherlands announced that the Swedish provider after two years of preparation would start with 4g in the Netherlands. Not only the wind blew hard, but Tele2 came fiercely from the corner. The whole presentation felt like a frontal attack on the current providers, with two important points: Dutch providers were too expensive and partly because Dutch make relatively little use of mobile internet.
One surprise was that no announcement: Tele2 has long been preparing. Moreover, the way was open because it – at the insistence of the House – for the current providers had been impossible to buy all frequencies in the auction of 2012. Ziggo and UPC dropped out, but Tele2 gasped, and eagerly bought the required frequency space.
It is conceivable that KPN, Vodafone and T-Mobile nervous look forward to this new competitor. With the strong hints at higher data bundles and lower prices they could simply draw many customers from the established operators. But how will that react? What will the coming of Tele2 on the Dutch telecom market? Chances are that it is a price which the consumer is ultimately as the winner.Viewing:-161
