Primera is going to sell smartphones and accessories

Dutch retail chain Primera will sell smartphones and smartphone accessories. Initially, it is a test at five locations and eventually all five hundred Primera stores have to have telephones in the range.

Primera says it will sell prepaid phones in combination with prepaid packages, refurbished iPhones from provider Swoop and accessories in collaboration with distributor Tech Data. Primera now sells mainly office supplies, magazines and tobacco. This is the first time that Primera has entered telecom.

The retail chain wants to sell telephones, according to them, because there are opportunities due to the disappearance of telephone shops in cities. The trial is now running in five stores of the retail chain. The assortment will not be the same for every branch, but will depend on the outcome of the test, the space in the store and the local market for telephones.

Primera is not the only chain in the Netherlands that starts offering smartphones this year. Kruidvat will offer products from Xiaomi. That happens this summer. Which phones the pharmacy chain will sell is not yet known.
