Privacy-oriented Black Phone flopped thanks to shadowy deals
In court documents that the privacy-focused Black Phone by Swiss Silent Circle and the Spanish Geeks Phone is flopped. The company had to sell orders on bag for 250,000 sets, but telecom players took much less distracting.
The joint venture had deals with companies BigOn in Dubai and Simion from South Korea, but both sides appeared after the conclusion of the Agreement new businesses without credit who had no intention of actually buying the phones and distribute. Instead, both companies wanted to borrow money itself by pointing out that they had signed a legitimate contract with Black Phone.
A co-founder of Black Phone brings the news out in a letter which Forbes has published . The only party who has purchased equipment, America Movil is from Mexico, but from the hundred thousand copies to buy it had promised, paid only six thousand copies. The letter KPN does not mention that the Black Phone eventually be offered .
In total, the company has shipped tens of thousands of copies of the first Black Phone, so to make the turnovers. Sales were at nine million euros. At an average retail price of around 300 or 400 euros, the number of copies distributed comes in between 20,000 and 30,000.
The court documents come out because the Spanish Geeks Phone demanding money from Silent Circle. Smartphone Maker Geeks Phone and software Silent Circle have created together Black Phone in 2013, but by 2015 Silent Circle bought the hardware maker for around thirty million.
