were temporarily downloadable
Twitch announced that “a small percentage” of users were subject to glitch, allowing unauthorized users to download their private message history. Twitch has set up a website where users can check whether they are involved.

The Messages function of Twitch has been out of use since May of this year because the technology would be outdated. The website is working on ‘new ways to connect to Twitch’, according to the Messages page. Until November 1, users can download an archive of their entire chat history. Due to a bug, the chats of other users would have been included in some of these archives.

Twitch says to Polygon, among other things, that the affected users have been informed and that they see which messages may have fallen into the wrong hands. Furthermore, the site says ‘to have taken steps to prevent this from happening’. How long the site has leaked the data is not mentioned.

The biggest danger that is likely to be here is that user address data will end up in the wrong hands. Twitch streamers regularly make lotteries where they give prizes to viewers, but they have to let them know where the package should be sent. Through , the site lets you know if a user has been hit.
