PS4 Media Player will support FLAC and 360-degree images




Sony brings a Thursday update for the PS4 Media Player software, which adds support for viewing of 360-degree videos and photos. The media player, after the update handle FLAC files.

Users with a PlayStation VR glasses can activate the menu of the Media Player software “VR mode. Subsequently, 360-degree photos and videos will be loaded from a media server or USB device. The software can handle media that is captured as an equidistant cylindrical projection.

Also brings the update support for FLAC audio format. Sony also says that all the music that no high-res audio is scaled. MP3 and AAC files would therefore have to sound richer, the manufacturer claims.

The software update comes on the same day that Sony releases PlayStation VR. The VR goggles for console has a suggested retail price of 399 euros and works with all versions of the PS4, including new smaller model and the more powerful PlayStation 4 Pro, which from November 10 available is.
