PVV and CDA to equip conductors with camera jacket




The PVV and CDA want conductors must be equipped with a small camera. The parties cards this Tuesday in a debate with Secretary Wilma Mansveld of Infrastructure. A bodycam would counteract violence in public transport.

That writes Trouw. Sander Rouwe, CDA MP, believes that a camera on the jacket of a conductor has a preventive effect. Body Cams according to him, would have a deterrent effect and de-escalating “because people would think twice if they see that they are being filmed.

PVV colleague Barry Madlener indicates that the images can be used in detection of suspects and it can also be used as evidence used against them. The PVV minister also points to the successful use of body cams in the United States

If a situation threatens to get out of hand, the CDA wants the bodycam can be viewed directly in the control room. For example, there could be rapidly gain-controlled.
