Qualcomm introduces 64bit octacore and Snapdragon 801




Qualcomm has three new processors for mobile devices announced at the MWC telecom exhibition, which was launched in Barcelona. It involves two new SOCs with four and eight cores that provide 64bit support and a new Snapdragon 800 variant.

Snapdragon The Snapdragon 615 and 610 have eight and four Cortex A53 cores, respectively. Cortex A53 is comparable to the efficient Cortex A7 but with better performance. The Snapdragon 615 and 610 are new Qualcomm SOCs for midrange based on the ARMv8 architecture and they also support 64bit processing. They support LTE. Previously announced similar Snapdragon quad-core to 410, but soc Qualcomm already has an Adreno 306 GPU, while the new Snapdragons a powerful Adreno 405 gain. In the last quarter of this year, the first smartphones with the new 64bit Snapdragons, are promises Qualcomm.

At the same time Qualcomm has a new top model to its line-up added . The Snapdragon 801 is identical to the Snapdragon 800 but with slightly higher clock speeds. The four Krait cores running at up to 2.5GHz on this model instead of 2.3 GHz. The Adreno 330 also has a small boost laced to 578Mhz, compared to 550MHz for the GPU fastest version of the Snapdragon 800. The Snapdragon 801 has found its way to include new Xperia S models from Sony.
