Qualcomm showed how to turn a table in a virtual gaming environment
The conference Uplinq in San Diego, Qualcomm has demonstrated its own gaming platform augmented reality. American technology developed by Smart Terrain allows gamers to create a virtual gaming environment of real objects. Smart Terrain is part of an interactive platform Qualcomm Vuforia.
Technology demonstration took place with the use of tablet Sony Xperia Tablet Z with integrated 3D-camera PrimeSense Capri by the type of Microsoft Kinect, able to perceive the depth of the scene. Head of augmented reality in Qualcomm’s Jay Wright showed the participants of the conference, as you can quickly create a coffee table with an arrangement of objects 3D-terrain for the game. The software analyzes the SmartMesh particles inside the lens of the camera, and then puts them additional information in the form of three-dimensional objects.
One click of the coffee table transforms into a virtual playground with allies and enemies. Users can introduce new characters to the game. For this it is necessary to scan the physical toy with the camera tablet (or smartphone).
