Qualcomm’s wireless charging technology Qi support
Qualcomm has joined the board of the Wireless Power Consortium, which it supports the Qi standard for wireless charging. The accession is remarkable since Qualcomm founder of the rival Alliance for Wireless Power.

Qi is based on induction, while A4WP using magnetic resonance. One of the differences between the implementations is that Qi is focused primarily on charging a single device, while A4WP on charging multiple devices with different energy needs on a single surface targets. A4WP also has some big names behind them, such as Broadcom, Intel and Marvell. Some companies are members of both organizations, such as Samsung, LG and now also Qualcomm.
