Find a Question:
Qualities to Seek in Your Broadband Provider
You always want to find the best deal on your broadband services. The cheapest isn’t always the right option, though. Choosing something based on cost alone is a mistake. By all means, use thecomparison.co.uk to see what deals are on offer right now, but you also have to consider the provider.
Ask yourself what qualities you would like to see in your broadband provider. Consider what they offer you as a customer. You might find your broadband provider charges a little more but has a better support service in place.
We all encounter broadband problems at some stage. You should have a support system available. This should include a phone number, an email, a physical address you can write to, and a live chat system. Not every company has all four of these options available. At least one of them should be open 24/7.
As well as a number of support options, they should get back to you quickly. The last thing you want is to have to wait for days just to receive a reply. It prolongs the problem and means you’re paying for a service you aren’t getting.
The installation process takes a minimum of five days to complete. Some broadband providers take 2-3 weeks depending on where you live and what package you’ve paid for. Ideally, the faster they install your broadband the higher quality they are. You should generally aim for an installation process which takes no longer than two weeks.
Moving house causes problems with your broadband. You need to move your connection and remove any broadband provisions left by the old owner at your new property. Most companies are moving to support broadband transfers for people who are moving house.
Choose a broadband provider which can synchronise your move with the installation. You won’t find this factor in your broadband comparison by TheComparison.co.uk. You should go to the provider’s website and see if they have a dedicated department for this.
If they do, you can get in touch with them a few weeks before your move. Inform them of your move and they’ll work with you to have an engineer turn up on the day of your move to install your broadband straight away.
The Pricing War
The broadband pricing war is something you still have to consider in your search to find the right broadband provider for you. The pricing war is a constant battle to undercut other broadband providers. It’s led to some of the cheapest broadband providers in the world. Don’t just look at the price of your package, though.
Do some calculations and deduce what each service in a broadband package costs. There’s little point in paying extra for a package which doesn’t significantly reduce the cost of your broadband connection.
As already mentioned, never make this your priority. For example, if your service is heavily capped a low price means nothing. You want the service which allows you to fulfil your needs at home.
