Quantum Break Preview – Time is both friend and foe




Sami Järvi, better known as Sam Lake, is within developer Remedy Entertainment, the person with a fascination with time. Lake, which as a writer was previously responsible for the adventures of Max Payne and Alan Wake, also invented the plot for Quantum Break. Time plays an even greater role than in the previous games of the Finnish studio that next week celebrating its twenty years. Indeed, time is the central theme of the game. Not only the story is all about time, too, most of the gameplay is based on.

Let us first dwell on the story. Which revolves around Jack Joyce, who make Quantum Break get with a typical case “at the wrong time in the wrong place.” That place is Riverport, a city on the east coast of the US At the local university takes an experiment that will provide impetus for the fate of Jack Joyce and his adventures in Quantum Break. The problem is that the experiment is completely wrong and Jack happened to be around when that happens.

The experiment caused a Quantum Break, which in layman’s terms means that the time ‘breaks’. Not directly, not completely, but it is inevitable. As a result of the accident, the time will slowly come to a stop – so that even though life will come to a standstill. Jack not only of life, but that of everyone on earth. Jack the task to avoid. Not only for his own sake but for that of everyone. That would at least say, but Jack suspiciously encounter opposition during his adventure.
Good guy, bad guy

That opposition comes from Paul Serene, owner of the wealthy Monarch Industries. He played a role in the experiment that started it completely and was like Jack around when things went wrong. Both men thus have something in common; as a result of the experiment, the two forces gained which can be played with time. Serene makes it like to use in his pursuit of Jack, who will in turn during the game learn what powers he has and how he can beat Serene thereby. Where Jack so the “good guy” is, Serene acts as the bad guy of the game.
