Rabobank comes with Rabo Wallet app

without contactless payment for iPhones
Rabobank has made a version of its Rabo Wallet app available for iPhones. The app has been on the App Store since Tuesday morning. The bank reports that contactless payment is not yet possible.

The Rabo Wallet app for iOS is available through the App Store. Rabobank reports there that the Rabo Wallet can be used to check the bank balance and recent transactions. Customer cards can also be saved and the app can be used to pay for parking. To use the Rabo Wallet on an iPhone, at least iOS 11.0 is required.

Rabobank makes clear that contactless payment is not yet possible, which has to do with the fact that Apple does not yet provide access to the nfc chip in iPhones. The bank reports that the payment app for iPhones is still being released, so that these users can also use part of the functionality. In addition, the bank says the app to bring out experience with an iOS wallet. Rabobank also says that it wants to know exactly what users want with the app before mobile payment is introduced.

Contactless payment is not yet possible, but iPhone users can receive and send payment requests with the Rabo Wallet. Support for iDeal QR will soon follow, whereby iDeal can be paid via payment service by scanning a qr code.

Users of Android devices can have the Rabo Wallet for some time. The Android app came out for the first time in early 2015 , even though that version only worked with a number of Samsung smartphones. In 2016, the app also worked with nfc SIM cards from a few providers and in November 2017 , the bank released an Android version of the Wallet app that no longer requires an NFC SIM card. Other banks, including ING and SNS, have been using apps that allow customers to pay contactlessly via nfc, without the need for a customized SIM card.
