Rabobank makes Wallet app for NFC SIM cards KPN
Rabobank has Rabo Wallet provides an update so that it now works with NFC SIM cards from KPN. This combination allows customers of the bank contactless payment if they have a smartphone with Android 4.4 or newer.
Support for NFC SIM cards is in the update to version 1.4 of the Android app. KPN provides new customers since the beginning of this year, SIM cards with NFC support; existing customers of KPN, Simyo and Yes Telecom can get these on request. If they are Rabobank clients can buy them with their smartphone and the Wallet app products at checkouts who pay support contactless. According to the bank, users must be 16 years or older.
As with NFC payments with debit amounts can be up to 25 euros to be paid without pin. For this, users do not have to open the app, but the phone has to be taken out of hibernation. It is not known whether other telecom providers also work in this area with Rabobank.
Contactless payment with Rabobank Wallet app and an NFC SIM card works according to Rabobank with all Android devices running version 4.4 or higher, with the exception of the Nexus smartphones. Why that combination does not work, is unknown.
The app for contactless payment works with some Samsung Galaxy devices without NFC SIM card. These are the Dutch versions of the Samsung Galaxy S4 and Note 3 with at least Android version 5.0, and Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge with at least Android version 6.0.
