Raspberry shows official housing for the Raspberry Pi

Raspberry has released an official case for the Raspberry Pi. The whole process has lasted a lot longer than initially thought, but ultimately there is a design in which the Raspberry Foundation is pleased. The chassis will cost 6 pounds, about 8.30 euros.

According to a blog by Gordon Hollingworth of the Raspberry Pi Foundation is more than two years working on the case. The predominantly white body with red accents has room for all connections that owns the gem. The cover is removable to provide access through an opening to the mini-computer.

Eventually there were three basic designs in which several prototypes were made. Of course worked together with the community and other end users during the design process. Because the computer is so small, had invented many already own designs and implemented.

Of the various models were 3d-prints made and, ultimately, the model was chosen after months of narrow, so had all without a special tool may be put together. After the design was chosen, a company were made to produce larger quantities in the case by means of injection molding, a way to produce form in plastic rapidly in large quantities.

The case is available via the Raspberrypi-shop for £ 6.
