Report: IPhone 8 Will Not Come With Fingerprint Sensor Under The Screen Nor Anywhere Else

Apple will not make the fingerprint sensor on its upcoming iPhone 8 under the screen, as was previously reported, as the announcement of the phone is due to come in September, according to a new report.

The report was published by KPI analyst Ming-Chi Ku, known for his subtle leaks about Apple. He talked about the next generation of my iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, as well as the all-new iPhone 8, With its OLED screen.

The analyst believes that the iPhone 8 will come with a screen that promises to be the largest in the market with regard to the percentage of screen space to the phone body, thanks to the “distortion” at the top of the screen and make the “Home” button by default within the screen. However, Ku pointed out that the default “Home” button will not support fingerprint recognition.

The KO report is believed to be a summary of many recent rumors and also provides some new news. The analyst asserts that the iPhone 8 will have a screen covering almost the full face except for a small part of the top of the phone, it will be dedicated to the integration of the front camera and earpiece and other sensors.

The iPhone 8 will provide a 5.8-inch screen for the iPhone 7, which offers a 4.7-inch screen, thanks to the large screen space relative to the handset. For the iPhone 7S and the iPhone 7S Plus , which come with an LCD screen, they will maintain the same screen size of 4.7 inches for the first and 5.5 inches for the other.

Confirming previous leaks, Ko said all three phones will support the wireless charging feature, but the charging base for the devices will be sold separately.

Unlike all the previous leaks, Ko said the iPhone 8 will not come with any kind of fingerprint sensors, either inside the screen or on its back. Apple seems to be removing the Touch ID sensor for face recognition.

Ku said the fingerprint sensor under the screen faced many technical problems that prevented Apple from adhering to the technology. Although some previous leaks have suggested that Apple may put the sensor on the back of the phone or the power button, the Ku report tries to confirm that the phone will not include any fingerprint sensor.

It is also rumored that the iPhone 8 will provide a front camera that supports 3D depth sensing technology, allowing better silhouette capture and authentication through facial recognition, eliminating the need for fingerprint sensors. Internally, the iPhone 8 and the iPhone 7S Plus will offer a RAM of 3 gigabytes (GB) of RAM, while the iPhone will offer 2GB of RAM.

All three phones will come with an internal storage space of 64 to 256 gigabytes, and they will all come with Lightning.
