Researchers put pictures suspected icebergs Pluto online
Scientists this week, high-resolution photos put online by the landscape of Pluto. The images show that the complex is dwarf planet. So there seem to be huge icebergs, but quite definitely the researchers not.
The images are high resolution, each pixel is equivalent to a distance of approximately four hundred meters. US Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory, she has put online. That research is connected to the NASA.
The pictures show that Pluto’s landscape is rather complex. So scientists believe the massive mountains of ice, but they certainly do not know. Some mountains are near the so-called Sputnik Planum. That’s an area the size of the US state of Texas. In that area flows presumably nitrogen ice.
Strikingly, the images also show an area with most craters observed New Horizons. In addition, there is a piece of ground in which the other hand, there are hardly any craters. In this latter area, probably the youngest, are likely to see sand dunes. Those are the photos pitch black.
Finally, give the pictures an image of Pluto’s moons Charon, Nix and Hydra. They also show a special and visible twilight at the dwarf planet. All in all, every part of the landscape of Pluto, according to the researchers’ as complex as that of Mars. ”
New Horizons Pluto has since long been abandoned, and is en route to an object in the Kuiper belt. The spacecraft is now at a distance of 69 million kilometers of Pluto, or more than 5 billion kilometers from Earth. It will take until the end of next year until all radio signals from the recorded images of Pluto by the New Horizons entered.Viewing:-159
