Ridderkerk does not get a fiber optic network

due to too few registrations

construction of a fiber optic network in Ridderkerk will not take place. According to network manager E-Fiber, it was not enough for enough companies and households to sign up.

People who have registered for optical fiber in Ridderkerk have been informed by the providers that their subscription will not take place. Network manager E-Fiber writes on his website that the required percentage of 40 percent has not been achieved. The enrollment percentage was not disclosed. E-Fiber also states that additional market research in Ridderkerk has shown that there is currently too little enthusiasm for optical fiber.

E-Fiber is active in several locations throughout the Netherlands with its Everyone Fiber Optics initiative. In many locations, the construction of a fiber optic network did or did continue. In January, it was announced that fiber is coming in the municipality of Montfoort and in Deurne.

It is not E-Fiber’s first glass fiber project that ends in nothing. Last year, the required number of registrations was not achieved in Heerhugowaard , and Schagen did not succeed either. With the project in Heerhugowaard, E-Fiber would have deliberately sketched the number of registrations much higher than it actually was, in order to move residents to a final sprint.

There are now three million fiber-optic connections in the Netherlands, but about half of the connected households have a subscription. There is growth again in the number of connections, although this is mainly in the outer areas and the Randstad remains behind.
